Joseph Jenckes: Pioneer of North American Patents.

On March 6, 1646, Joseph Jenckes received the first machine patent in North America from the General Court of Massachusetts for making scythes. This landmark patent laid the groundwork for the protection of innovative ideas and designs in the burgeoning colonies.
